AROL AUGSBURGER, O.D. Named President of Illinois College of OptometryD r. Arol Augsburger has been named President of Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in Chicago.Before coming to ICO, Dr. Augsburger served as Interim Provost for The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Over the last three decades, he has earned the reputation of a fair-minded, consistent manager, visionary and leader. Prior to that, Dr. Augsburger’s influence was visible in the growth and development of the UAB School of Optometry from the time of his initial appointment as Dean and Professor in 1994. Well grounded in his profession of optometry, university administration and teacher, Dr. Augsburger has shown himself to be broadly effective in peripheral issues facing higher education. The Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness welcomes Dr. Arol Augsburger to Chicago and wishes him well in his new position.
