Quick Tips

Bathroom Safety: Consider using contrasting color tiles behind the grab bar in the tub or shower to make the bar more visible.

Safety Glasses: Like regular glasses, safety glasses used in operating machinery, using tools, mowing lawns, and so forth should be kept in an eyeglass case.

“If you don’t have a case . . . place them inside of a zippered sandwich bag (Source: “Homewise With Beverly,” Quincy (Ill.) Herald-Whig, Oct. 25, 1999).

$5 and $10 Notes (Large Print): If you found the new $20 note helpful, you will be pleased to know that the new 1999 Series $5 and $10 notes will be made available by the middle of 2000 (Source: Announcement by Lawrence Summers, U.S. Treasury Secretary, Nov. 16, 1999).

St. John’s Wort: An active ingredient found in St. John’s Wort, coupled with exposure to the sun, may cause increased photosensitivity causing possible damage to the eyes. If you are taking this herb, you may want to wear UV protection in the sun.
